Hammering Handle with Leather Embossing Stamp - Outpost Workshop

Leather Stamp - Hammering Handle Guide

This guide will walk you through how to stamp your leatherworking projects with our hammering handles.

The hammering handle is a good choice for smaller stamps (under 15CM2) when stamping vegetable tanned leather.

Things needed:

  • Brass stamp (included in kit)
  • Spring washer (included in kit with hammering handle)
  • Hammering handle (optional in our store)
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Hammer

Ensure the leather and stamp are on a firm surface. Hold the hammering handle steady, applying pressure downwards on the base of the stamp with your hand. Hit the hammering handle with the hammer with moderate force. If the stamp skips and creates a double impression, several smaller taps can produce a cleaner result than a single heavy hit.

Check your work - the resulting impression should be clear, with all details showing. Try to avoid moving the leather too much while it dries.
